Football: Singapore vs Argentina Friendly game pictures

Argentina are the reason why I fell in love with Football. Diego Maradona to be precise. My blog name is inspired from the childhood days when most in my family believed I would be a loser in life; with some addressing me often as ‘Haradhon’ – means loser in my native Bengali language. The blog name Haradona is a combination of Haradhon + Maradona. The latter, the greatest football player of all time. Yes. The god of Football. No, not Messi.

With my friend Vishnu Nanduri

So when Argentina landed at Singapore to play a friendly, despite a strong guess that Lionel Messi won’t bother playing, I still booked expensive tickets for this game. The organizers though were very unfair to the public. Messi was never going to come, yet they sold tickets at astronomical prizes under ‘Messi is coming’. Unless someone convinces me that Leo Messi decided to marry on way from Australia to Singapore, two weeks before tying the knot. Neither Nicholas Otamendi nor Gonzalo Higuain played and am sure the organizers knew it from day one. Even as a football fan, I had fair idea of it well before.

It didn’t bother me much personally. I watched Higuain and Messi live recently. So needed to watch the other players of my favourite national football team. Here are some of the pictures.

The biggest star of the night was Angel Di Maria. Slick passing. Back heels. Long rangers. And finish off with stylish goal.
Manchester United keeper Sergio Romero. His penalty kick saves took Argentina to World Cup 2014 finals
The Albicelestes walk out of the tunnel
Singapore flag in my hand but India in my heart. India are gonna win the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 later this week, or at least come very very close to winning it. Bleed Blue!
0-5 at the Singapore National Stadium, which ended with a stunning goal for 0-6
Ever Banega .. after many successful years with Sevilla, winning 3 Europa League cups, now plays for Inter Milan. He is followed by Manuel Lanzini, the playmaker for West Ham
The burly 6.5ft Federico Fazio stood a tower in the Argentine defence. The shorter Singapore players were just not able to go past him entire night. He plies his trade with Serie A club Roma
Paulo Dybala of Juventus was the second biggest star of the night and one of the shining lights of future
Rohan Nanduri cheers yet another Argentina goal. He was sad not to see Leo Messi live but his enthusiastic posters made up for not so much crowded, quiet stadium atmosphere

A great evening! And thanks Coach Jorge Sampaoli in making the team look much better in less than a months time. Fazio, Correa, Gomez were very impressive aside the regular stars.

Thank you Singapore too for this once in lifetime experience. The Singapore football team would have learnt a lot from this 90 mins of brushing shoulders with the best in the world. #BringBackThe Roar
